I want you to imagine this: You wake up and things have switched around. Heterosexuals are no longer able to marry. In fact, it’s illegal in many states and your “lifestyle” is punishable by death in some countries.
You can no longer kiss in public because people will judge and look directly at you with disgust. You can’t even hold hands for fear that you will be physically harmed. Organizations, churches and many groups think you are a sinner and not worthy of having a family. These are just a few of the many things working against you in this new world.
It’s a scary place for someone like you and it’s really sad that you can’t be you.
Well, this IS my world. I’ve been called names - I’ve been bullied - I’m still afraid to be in many situations - I’m afraid to move into a new neighborhood – I’m often fearful to share my personal life – I’ve been worried about my safety. It’s not a choice to be who I am. Would you choose a life like this for yourself?
I write this today because I often review the news here: Edge New York Take a look at the articles and you can imagine the emotional ups and downs I feel while reading them.
